Foundations of Energetic Practice

Bring attention to the heart center. Let gentleness protect you. Let it clear the space. Gentleness is being nonreactive. End that reactivity.

You can try to feel a lot of positivity. Invoke the more beautiful perspective on the situation without thinking more. Just feel it in the heart.

What is energy, and why is it relevant? How can it help us?

Perhaps you have heard about chi or kundalini. These are well-known forces in certain spiritual paradigms, descriptions of the same biological factor, something we can work with in meditation.

When we want to become something more, to have a very divine experience of the universe, a sense of holiness and godliness and intelligence and love, it is necessary to grow in our energetic quality. People are all in different energetic states, and as we study or practice, we will evolve. But the practice of direct energy work, also known as Raja Yoga or Kriya Yoga, is a very powerful way to cultivate your energy and change very rapidly.

It can be interesting to study this. It can be very fun to cultivate magical powers. It can be empowering. There is a power you can develop. But when we are looking to become enlightened, become more divine, and experience more beauty and more love, this is a different application. Instead of being interested in the powers themselves, we are interested in the love that it opens us to.

It is good to have a little bit of a cosmology. Ultimately, one must come to their direct perception of these qualities. Some of these things you can think of as a potential that you may perceive. You can look out for it, but it gives you a sense of the structure that you will navigate on this path of energy.

There are four planes of existence. There is material, physical matter. Then there is the subtle physical, which is the energy plane. That could be electromagnetism. It is the part of existence that is not so gross. It is more subtle.

Within our biology, we experience the kundalini and the chi. That is a part of the energy plane. It goes by the name the astral plane. I am sure there are many terms that have been changing throughout human history, but it is a part of the subtle aspect of existence.

Then there is a deeper plane of energy. This may be a little bit surprising to people. There is this energy plane, but there is a deeper energy plane. It is the planes of light.

What really differentiates these two is that the energy plane, the astral plane, is within the contents of consciousness. You could think of it as a subtle physical, a subtle aspect of the physical. The word physical means nature, essentially. It is what is manifest. So it is the subtle manifest and the gross manifest.

Both are important to attend to. Even the subtle manifest is very magical and new to most people. Humanity does not really consider it that much. Most people give me a hard time on Instagram. They say they do not believe in the chakras.

It is not a matter of believing in the chakras. If you are believing in the chakras, you are certainly not feeling them, and you have to change that. It is okay if you do not feel the chakras, but if you are working toward feeling them, believing in them either way is not going to help you.

Believing in the chakras may help you in the sense that it will open the door to cultivating them. If you do not believe it is possible, you will never make it a reality. That is, I suppose, the only real value, as a temporary stage.

The Planes of Light and Enlightenment

The light plane, the planes of light, is not the subtle physical anymore. It is like the fabric of the dream itself. There is a brightness that is your very mind. You have to start thinking about the possibility and looking at the reality of things, which is that the world is really inside of us.

Of course, we perceive a body and a world. You say the body is inside the world, but you, as the dreamer, as the conscious mechanism, are the creator of all that is perceived. The world is inside your field of consciousness.

What is the field of consciousness made of? It is made of light, and you can see this light. You can experience this light. If perhaps you think this is a little too whimsical, I spend most of my day trying to maintain contact with this light. I am not imagining it. I am really trying to stay connected with it and navigating my life based on how much light happens.

My development in mathematics was guided by the light. If I did not follow mathematics in a certain way, there would not be much light when I did math. If I did, there would be lots of light.

Light is the third plane. I would love to help all of you who are interested to integrate life into your life. That was a Freudian slip, because light is life. Integrate light into your life.

The light is like a life force, and it is very, very, very special. When you are in touch with the light, you are happy. It is like an uncaused happiness. If there is no light, it does not matter if you are swimming in a pool of gold coins. You will not be happy. The light is happiness.

One of the most beautiful qualities of light is gold. It is like this golden sunshine in your own heart and mind. It is truly beautiful.

It is not the easiest thing to get to. You can get to it, but you have to work on it. I worked quite hard to get to the point where I was experiencing it on my own, and then harder to experience it consistently. Now I try to prioritize the light as much as possible, even when I am sleeping.

You can start to dream in the light, which is lovely. You will sleep deeper. It also awakens intelligence because the light renews your mind in a way that allows you to see clearly.

It purifies. There is a connection between the light and the subtle physical. The light itself will purify the subtle physical. You can bring the light into your body, or you can bring your body into the light. Maybe merge with the light is the best way to describe it. Make sure there is light in your heart chakra, in your brain, in all the different parts of your body, and in all the different parts of your energy body.

The light has its own intelligence. If you are working just with your astral body, you may have to do certain things. You might use a technique and move the energy in a certain way. But when you are in the light, it allows things to move into their natural state, into their correct state. It is a very potent and pivotal way to purify and cultivate your energy.

There is also a whole spectrum of light. There is a cosmology, almost like chakras of light, the map of the light realm. Paramahansa Yogananda calls the light a causal plane. I think other people have called it that too. That is generally the term. There is the astral plane, and then there is the causal plane, the planes of light. Names are not the most important, although they may help you realize what people are talking about.

In the light, there is a whole spectrum of colors. There is a white light and this rainbow-colored light. You can see any quality of light. Depending on how your field is, you may come back to certain qualities more consistently.

There is also a blue light that is kind of on its own, outside of the rainbow spectrum, and the gold light, which is a very deep quality of light. It is deep in the sense that it is very essential. It is like the color of the soul, as opposed to the color of love. This is kind of the core part of yourself.

Then there is a clear light that appears black, which is very, very deep. It becomes impersonal. If you read some ancient texts, they will often talk about these things because this is some very deep, esoteric knowledge that is relevant to every human being. It awakens love, intelligence, freedom, contentment, peace, and a sense of what matters most. This will open your heart and bring love.

When you think about how that saintly person is so saintly, I would probably guess that they had contact with the light. It really makes a difference. I do not know how else you would do it. Maybe there is another way, but the light tells you that you are headed toward the essence.

Then there is another plane, the plane of enlightenment, which is where that clear light is. I do not know as much about this. I have some experiences in it every now and then. It is a very deep place to find yourself.

It is called nirvikalpa samadhi in yoga. It is a state of dissolution. There is no sense of individuality there. But when you come out of it, you have this sense that you are about to become an individual again. It is kind of not so pleasant, actually, because when you are not an individual at all, there is this sort of truthfulness and freedom there.

When you become the individual again, coming out of the eternal plane, there is a sense of illusion. There is this sense that you are going to think you are this person again. It is a very palpable sense of illusion. It is really interesting.

Those are the four planes: the physical, the astral, the causal, and the eternal plane, or enlightened plane.

Astral Anatomy and Energetic Centers

The astral plane is very important. It is important to know the parts of the astral that are your own biology. When I say biology, I do not mean cells, nerves, and organs. I mean chakras, nadis, and auras. There are different parts. There is a subtle auric aspect of your physicality, the subtle physical.

The heart center is paramount. That is right in the center of the chest. It is the heart chakra. There are also three chakras below and three chakras above.

There is the root chakra. It is a little bit underneath your body, around the perineum area. There is the second chakra around the genital area. If you are meditating on the root chakra, you can sometimes feel the perineum muscle twitch or flex because it is very connected to the body.

There is the navel center, which I highly recommend, especially for beginners. It is one inch below the belly button, and this is a center of willpower. If you look it up on the internet, they might say the navel center is in your solar plexus, which is actually a different chakra. It is more like a secondary chakra.

There is the heart. There is the throat chakra at the base of the throat. There is the third eye, which I also highly recommend. The third eye, the heart, and the navel are a good combination. Then there is the crown, right on top of the head. You can go through all of these, practice them, and explore them.

There are other centers that are not actually called chakras. They are called granthi. The granthi are like nerve centers and the fields that they create.

One is at the top of the head, where the baby has a soft spot, a little bit behind the crown center. There is one in the back of the head, right underneath the divot, at the very top of the spine. Just when you bring your attention there, the simple act awakens the center.

There is one inside the middle of the brain, and it connects with the one in the back of the head. There is an energy center in the pineal gland. You can feel your pineal gland. The doctors will tell you that you cannot feel that because there are no nerves there, but you feel the field.

The third eye, the Shiva granthi, which is the top one, and the center of the brain all connect. They also connect to the two on the top. There are five in the head just along the central plane.

There is one right behind your heart. That is the loving back rub spot. It is an actual center. If your friend knows you are having a hard time and rubs your back, they are intuitively knowing that you need a rub back there. That is another granthi called the Vishnu granthi.

There is the lower back granthi, which is connected to the lower three chakras. Think of it as the back of the navel center, but it is also connected to the other two. You can meditate on all of those.

There are also chakras in your palms and your fingertips. If you have trouble feeling the energy, one of the easiest ways is to feel the connection between your fingertips and your palms. Bring your attention to your hands. Try to build the energy. Find out how to do that. You have to figure it out for yourself. It is almost like you are letting the charge accumulate in your fingertips.

There are many, many more centers. If you look at an acupuncture model, they have little dots all over the model. There are about eight heart centers right by your heart chakra. The heart chakra I am talking about is the main one, but there are lots of secondary spots.

When you work with these, you can really change yourself. Just as with acupuncture, you can heal things. You can heal your physical organs by fixing the energy. If you fix the light, it can fix your astral body. If you fix the astral body, you can fix your physical body. You can actually go the other direction, centering on your essence.

Why do we do this? We do it to become happier, freer, more peaceful, more capable of seeing beauty, and, most of all perhaps, more knowledgeable of our true self.

Who is the true self? Can you know the impersonal self in the enlightened plane? Is it that you can actually know that side of yourself?

Everything takes on a different sense. We are living our lives in a certain paradigm. If we change the paradigm, life can change a lot. It is like somebody who has an epiphany and then changes everything. They get married or change their job because they saw something new. There is so much to see.

This is one of the greatest discoveries. In mathematics, we love discovering math. We love discovering physics. But when you discover through your direct perception the planes of light, the astral plane, the psychic planes, which are related, and the eternal planes, you are discovering the ultimate.

It is truly a spectacular experience to look behind the curtain of existence, see what is really happening, live with that, and have that be a part of everything you do.

Make it a part of your life. It is nice to have a community that knows about the light, where we can talk about the light, the matters of light, the issues around the light, and the considerations of the light. It is nice to have your friends, family, and community live it, live in that realm. We are looking to normalize that a little bit so it is not so unusual or so out there for people.

Chakras, Granthi, and Direct Experience

The chakras are more etheric. The granthi are more gross. They are less subtle. The chakras are more electromagnetic, and the granthi are more electrical. The energy that goes through the granthi is more viscous. You can move different levels, but there is certainly a viscous energy that you can move through the granthi, but not as much through the chakras.

The heart chakra can be the size of the planet. You can actually expand it. It is a center, but it expands. The Vishnu granthi, which is behind the heart, is somewhere you could reach out backward. But I am not even sure if that is the granthi reaching out. It might be the heart chakra reaching out. Usually, if you focus on the granthi, it is more localized.

Electrical is confined to a wire, but the field around the wire is electromagnetic, which actually reaches out. You could think of it as a toroid. I usually experience my heart chakra more like a sphere.

It is very important not to be too caught up in this. This is just an initial description. Ultimately, the words are not very important unless you are teaching, communicating, or discussing it with somebody.

What matters is the actual experience. Am I becoming freer? Am I purifying my heart? Do I feel more love, compassion, and empathy? These are the real indicators of progress.

It can be a little dangerous to be caught up in jargon because then you become an expert in jargon. There is a lot of ego involved, and it is not even about that at all.

You could be somebody who knows not one of these words, but you are masterful with this. You are the only person in the world who knows about your experience, and you just love everybody with your endowment of beauty and love within your own being. That is a good way to be.

If you are doing fifteen minutes of meditation a day, you could do five minutes on the heart to start, five minutes on the navel or the third eye, and then five minutes on the third eye or the navel. You could do that twice a day. You could also spend time focusing into the light. But it is a different thing. The chakras help you to get into the light.

If somebody is in a more dense state, the chakras loosen things up so you can get into the light. Eventually, you can just focus right into the light. You might start that way, but chakras help. They are like doorways into the light.

Guided Chakra Meditation

Bring your attention to the heart center, the heart chakra and its expansiveness. If you are able to bring the light into the chakra, if you are experienced with that, you can do that too.

The heart chakra is right in the center of the sternum, and it is underneath the ribs as well. You can feel and explore that. Simply bring your attention there and awaken vitality there with your intention.

If your mind wanders, as soon as you become aware, bring your attention back. Keep cultivating and building the energy there in the heart. The more you stay with it, the more the energy builds. You might feel warmth. We are just awakening an energetic charge.

Expand the heart in front of the body. Give the heart chakra that expansive quality.

Now go to the third eye. The third eye is just a little above the spot between the eyebrows. It almost feels like you look at it with your eyes, without going cross-eyed. Just bring your attention there. You are looking.

It is good to feel the magnetism. There is almost a magnetic pull or pressure that feels pleasant because it feels vital. Give it your all. It is good to have a gentle intensity. Do not be too forceful.

Now focus on the crown.

Then go to the navel. One inch below the belly button is the center. The quality of energy here is quite different. It feels like a power. You literally feel in command of your own field. Feel that quiet power.

Bring your attention to the back of the head. This time we will do something that is not just meditating on a center. We are working with the whole channel.

Push the energy slowly down behind the neck, over the back of the heart, over the middle back where the solar plexus would be, and let it drip down. It almost feels like it drips all the way down to the lower back and the tailbone, into the perineum for the root center.

Do that again. Just let it drip down, facilitating that movement gently. Start from the top again. We are creating fluidity in a way that should be healthy, and you can feel that it feels healthy.

Bring it down over the back of the head, down the neck, over the upper back, the mid back, and the lower back to the bottom of the channel. You can do it again if you like, or you can place your attention on the Vishnu granthi, the heart granthi.

All this energy work should have transformed your consciousness. You can take an existential look at the nature of reality and yourself. What is directly perceivable beyond words? Look a little bit more directly and closely.

Now feel centered in the heart center, the heart chakra. Feel love, kindness, gentleness, and peacefulness.

When you are ready, come out of the meditation.

Mathematics and Meditative Perception

This awakens your intelligence, and it is a discovery like math. It is an ontological, existential discovery. If you do math from this state, you can apprehend the gestalt and see things without the linear thought patterns.

Srinivasa Ramanujan, an Indian mathematician, did math so differently from anybody in history. This person would convene with Namagiri, who is a Hindu goddess, and she would tell him mathematical equations that nobody knew, not even the people at Cambridge back in the twenties. He would literally just see the equations from this sort of state.

I know this state. When the mind gets still enough, I do not think you need a goddess there, perhaps, but you can apprehend the gestalt and see things without the linear thought patterns.

Sometimes I experience more light when I am doing math than when I am not doing math. I do math with my eyes closed. I focus on animations or other things. I come up with them, essentially, and there is light washing through my mind.

Eventually, I will stop doing math and just go away. Math is happening beyond math at that point.

Adam Wes Hey, everybody.

Colleen Hello!

Adam Wes Hi, Mom. All right, let's wait a few minutes for people to join. Thanks for being on time.

Foundations of Energetic Practice

A good thing that you can do while we wait is just bring attention to the heart center. Let gentleness protect you. Let it clear the space. Gentleness is being nonreactive. Let me build a base around ourselves by ending that reactivity.

You can try to feel a lot of positivity. Just invoke the more beautiful perspective on the situation without thinking more. Just feel it in the heart.

Welcome, everybody. I'm expecting a few more people, but we'll get started. I'd like to keep the discussion a little shorter today so we can have a longer meditation, but there are some very important things to talk about concerning energy.

What is energy, and why is it relevant? How can it help us?

Perhaps you've heard about chi or kundalini. These are well-known forces in certain spiritual paradigms, but descriptions of the same biological factor that is something we can work with in meditation.

When we want to become something more, to have a very divine experience of the universe, a sense of holiness and godliness and intelligence and love, it's necessary to grow in our energetic quality. A lot of times this will happen. People are all in different energetic states, and as we study or practice, we will evolve.

It can be really interesting to study this. It can be very fun to cultivate magical powers. It can be empowering. There's a power you can develop. But when we're looking to become enlightened, become more divine, and experience more beauty and more love, then this is a different application. Instead of being interested in the powers themselves, we're interested in the love that it opens us to.

It's good to have just a little bit of a cosmology. I'm going to describe things, but ultimately one must come to their direct perception of these qualities. Some of these things you can think of as a potential that you may perceive. You can look out for it, but it gives you a sense of the structure that you'll navigate on this path of energy.

Kira, we're discussing energy and the astral body. We're looking at why we're interested in it and where it is in the greater spectrum of the cosmology of life and the universe.

There are four planes of existence, you could think. There's the energetic plane, or actually, let's start with the material. There's material, physical matter. Then there's the subtle physical, which is the energy plane. That could be electromagnetism. It's the part of existence that's not so gross. It's more subtle.

Within our biology, we experience the kundalini and the chi. That's a part of the energy plane. It goes by the name the astral plane. That's another term for it. I'm sure there are many terms that have been changing throughout human history, but it's a part of the subtle aspect of existence.

Then there's a deeper plane of energy. I think this may be a little bit surprising to people. There's this energy plane, but there's a deeper energy plane. It's the planes of light.

What really differentiates these two is that the energy plane, the astral plane, is within the contents of consciousness. You could think of it as a subtle physical, a subtle aspect of the physical. The word physical means nature, essentially. It's what's manifest. So it's the subtle manifest and the gross manifest.

Both are important to attend to. I think even just the subtle manifest is very magical and new to most people. Humanity doesn't really consider it that much. Most people give me a hard time on Instagram. They say, "I don't believe in the chakras."

Well, it's not a matter of believing in the chakras. If you're believing in the chakras, you're certainly not feeling them, and you have to change that. It's okay if you don't feel the chakras, but if you're working toward feeling them, believing in them either way is not going to help you.

Believing in the chakras may help you in the sense that it'll open the door to cultivating them. If you don't believe it's possible, you'll never make it a reality. That's, I suppose, the only real value, as a temporary stage.

The Planes of Light and Enlightenment

The light plane, the planes of light, is not the subtle physical anymore. It's like the fabric of the dream itself. There's a brightness that is your very mind. You have to start thinking about the possibility and looking at the reality of things, which is that the world is really inside of us.

Ariella Of course, we perceive a body and a world.

Adam Wes You say, "Well, the body is inside the world," but you, as the dreamer, as the conscious mechanism, are the creator of all that is perceived. The world is inside your field of consciousness.

What's the field of consciousness made of? Well, it's made of light, and you can see this light. You can experience this light. In fact, if perhaps you think this is a little too whimsical, I'll tell you that I spend most of my day trying to maintain contact with this light. I'm not imagining it. In fact, my development in mathematics was guided by the light. If I didn't follow mathematics in a certain way, there wouldn't be much light when I did math. If I did, there would be lots of light.

Light is the third plane, and I'd love to help all of you who are interested to integrate life into your life. That was a Freudian slip, because light is life. Integrate light into your life.

It purifies. There's a connection between the light and the subtle physical. The light itself will purify the subtle physical. You can bring the light into your body, or you can bring your body into the light. Maybe "merge with the light" is the best way to describe it. Make sure there's light in your heart chakra, in your brain, in all the different parts of your body, and in all the different parts of your energy body.

The light is very important, and it also helps you. The light has its own intelligence. If you're working just with your astral body, you may have to do certain things. In the light, there's a whole spectrum of colors. There's a white light and this rainbow-colored light. You can see any quality of light. Colleen sees the red light as soon as she starts meditating. Depending on how your field is, you may come back to certain qualities more consistently.

There's also a blue light that is kind of on its own, outside of the rainbow spectrum, and the gold light, which is a very deep quality of light. It's deep in the sense that it's very essential. When you become the individual again, coming out of the eternal plane, there's a sense of illusion. You say, "Oh my gosh, I'm going to think that I'm this person again." It was a very palpable sense of illusion. It's really interesting.

Those are the four planes: the physical, the astral, the causal, and the eternal plane, or enlightened plane.

Astral Anatomy and Energetic Centers

Today we're supposed to talk about the astral. What time is it? All right, I'll just do it quite quickly.

The astral plane is very important. It's important to know the parts of the astral that are your own biology. When I say biology, I don't mean cells, nerves, and organs. I mean chakras, nadis, and auras. There are different parts. There's a subtle auric aspect of your physicality, the subtle physical.

The heart center is really paramount. That's right in the center of the chest. It's the heart chakra. There are also three chakras below and three chakras above.

There's the root chakra. It's a little bit underneath your body, around the perineum area. There's the second chakra around the genital area. If you're meditating on the root chakra, you can sometimes feel the perineum muscle twitch or flex because it's very connected to the body.

There's the navel center, which I highly recommend, especially for beginners. It's one inch below the belly button, and this is a center of willpower.

The heart is the next one. If you look it up on the internet, they might say the navel center is in your solar plexus, which is actually a different chakra. It's more like a secondary chakra.

There's the heart. There's the throat chakra at the base of the throat. There's the third eye, which I also highly recommend. The third eye, the heart, and the navel are a good combination. Then there's the crown, right on top of the head as well. You can go through all of these, practice them, and explore them.

There are other centers that are not actually called chakras. They're called granthi. The granthi are like nerve centers and the fields that they create.

One is at the top of the head, where the baby has a soft spot, kind of a little bit behind the crown center. There's one in the back of the head, right underneath the divot. This is an important one as well. There's one inside the middle of the brain.

I'm going through these really quickly. I'm sorry if it's too fast. Everybody touched the back of the head when I said that one. That's obviously the one that matters right now.

Yeah, right in the back of the head. See, just when you bring your attention there, the simple act, at the very top of the spine.

There's one in the middle of the brain, and it kind of connects with the one you're touching right now. It's a little part of the brain in the center.

Then there's one right behind your heart. That's the loving back rub spot. It's an actual center. If your friend says, "Oh, you're having a hard time," and they rub your back, they're intuitively knowing that you need a rub back there. Or maybe you're having a good time and somebody rubs your back.

That's another granthi called the Vishnu granthi. There's the lower back granthi, which is connected to the lower three chakras. Think of it as the back of the navel center, but it's also connected to the other two. You can meditate on all of those.

There are also chakras in your palms and your fingertips. If you have trouble feeling the energy, one of the easiest ways is to feel the connection between your fingertips and your palms. You can kind of do this. Try to get yourself to feel the movement and bring your attention to your hands. Try to build the energy.

You can say, "Okay, I'm building. I'm building." Find out how to do that. You have to figure it out for yourself. It's almost like you're letting the charge accumulate in your fingertips.

There are many, many more centers. If you look at an acupuncture model, they'll have little dots all over the acupuncture model. It's like a mannequin or a picture of a mannequin.

There's literally a heart center here, one here, one here, one here. There are about eight heart centers right by your heart chakra. The heart chakra I'm talking about is the main one, but there are lots of secondary spots.

When you work with these, you can really change yourself. Just like if you go to acupuncture, you can really heal things.

We're living our lives in a certain paradigm. If we change the paradigm, life can change a lot. It's like somebody who has an epiphany and then changes everything. They get married or change their job because they saw something new. There's so much to see.

This is one of the greatest discoveries. In mathematics, we love discovering math. We love discovering physics. But when you discover through your direct perception the planes of light, the astral plane, the psychic planes, which are related, and the eternal planes, you're discovering the ultimate.

It's truly a spectacular experience to look behind the curtain of existence, see what's really happening, live with that, and have that be a part of everything you do.

Any questions? Thanks for listening. I hope that helps people.

I'd love for us as a community to really build these things into our lives. For example, Kira and I have been going into light together for six years. Seven? Let's see, six years now.

She's a really amazing light worker, and she does kundalini yoga as well. She teaches kundalini yoga, which is the astral, but she probably uses the light when she does it.

She and I have been going into light for a long time. It's nice to have a community that knows about the light, where we can talk about the light, the matters of light, the issues around the light, and the considerations of the light. It's nice to have your friends, family, and community live it, live in that realm.

I invite you to join me. Make it a part of your life. That's what we're looking to create, to normalize that a little bit so it's not so unusual or so out there for people.

Here's some terminology I shared with you today, and we can explore that in more detail.

Hi, Mom. What do you think? Do you want to say something?

Colleen I'm hanging out, listening, but I'll pass on any comments.

Adam Wes Okay.

Colleen Thanks.

Adam Wes You're welcome. Shawn, do you want to say anything?

Chakras Granthi and Direct Experience

Shawn E When you were talking about the center, how do you pronounce it? Is it granthi?

Adam Wes Granthi.

Shawn E Granthi.

Adam Wes Yeah, granthi.

Shawn E Were you trying to think of the pineal gland?

Adam Wes Yeah, the pineal gland. I don't know if that's officially a granthi. I think maybe it is. It's definitely not a chakra. I think it must be a granthi. But yeah, there's a center there. There's an energy center there in the pineal gland. You can feel your pineal gland.

The doctors will tell you that you can't feel that because there are no nerves there, but you feel the field. I can feel the node right here in my aura, so there are obviously no nerves there. It's in front of my body.

Shawn E Is it the third eye, that center, because you see?

Adam Wes The third eye, the Shiva granthi, which is the top one, and the center of the brain chakra all connect. They also connect to the two on the top. There are five in the head just along the central plane.

There are also the temples here. There are another two temples just behind them. There are about four temple spots. There are lots of things. Even your eyeballs are chakras in a way.

But those five are very important. If you were to scan your whole body, I would go through those five for sure. I might skip my eyeballs and the temples.

Shawn E Would you characterize the contrast when you are experiencing your chakras versus the granthi, or is it a very similar feeling?

Adam Wes That's a very good question. The chakras are more etheric.

Shawn E Okay.

Adam Wes The granthi are more gross. They're less subtle.

Shawn E Okay.

Adam Wes The chakras are more electromagnetic, and the granthi are more electrical.

Shawn E Okay.

Adam Wes The energy that goes through the granthi is more viscous. You can move different levels, but there's certainly a viscous energy that you can move through the granthi, but not as much through the chakras. Kira, would you agree with that?

All right. Kira and I usually don't even talk about all this stuff. We just sit and go into the light, but sometimes we do. Good questions.

What you do to practice this is, if you're doing your 15 minutes of meditation a day that I recommended, you could do five minutes on the heart to start, five minutes on the navel or the third eye, and then the third eye or the navel. You could do five minutes each.

Really, you could do that twice a day. Once we start talking about the light more, which we're going to add later on in the course, you could spend time just focusing into the light. But it's a different thing. The chakras help you to get into the light.

If somebody's in a more dense state, the chakras loosen things up so you can get into the light. Eventually, you can just focus right into the light. You might start that way, but chakras help. They're like doorways into the light.

Then we can do some chakra meditation now.

Kira Sure, I'll add on a little bit.

Adam Wes Yeah, please do.

Kira The chakras have an expansive quality, and the granthi, when you're moving your energy, particularly through kundalini yoga and meditation, are almost like places where the energy can get stuck. You want to move the energy through them. The chakras have an expansive quality where, through awareness, you can expand them.

Adam Wes Thanks, Kira, for adding that. The heart chakra can be the size of the planet. You can actually expand it. It's a center, but it expands.

The Vishnu granthi, which is behind the heart, is somewhere you could reach out backward. But I'm not even sure if that's the granthi reaching out. It might be the heart chakra reaching out. It's actually nice to reach out backward, but usually, if you focus on the granthi, it's more localized.

Shawn E It sounds like local versus nonlocal, and the nonlocal is associated with that toroidal flow that is limitless. The granthi is denser, more like the third dimension, or this dimension. I know that's not the language you use.

Adam Wes I think of it as more electrical versus electromagnetic.

Shawn E Okay, yeah. Expansive.

Adam Wes Electrical is confined to a wire, but the field around the wire is electromagnetic, which actually reaches out. You could think of it as a toroid. I usually experience my heart chakra more like a sphere.

It's very important not to be too caught up in this. This is just an initial description. Ultimately, the words are not very important unless you're teaching, communicating, or discussing it with somebody.

What matters is the actual experience. Am I becoming freer? Am I purifying my heart? Do I feel more love, compassion, and empathy? These are the real indicators of progress.

In fact, it can be a little dangerous to be caught up in jargon because then you become an expert in jargon. There's a lot of ego involved, and it's not even about that at all.

You could be somebody who knows not one of these words, but you're masterful with this. You're the only person in the world who knows about your experience, and you just love everybody with your endowment of beauty and love within your own being. That's a good way to be. Ariella is like, "Yeah, I do that."

All right.

Shawn E Thank you.

Adam Wes You're welcome. Let's get started on our meditation. We went a little over.

Guided Chakra Meditation

Can everybody hear the music?

Let's bring our attention to the heart center, the heart chakra and its expansiveness. If you're able to bring the light into the chakra, if you're experienced with that, we can do that too.

The heart chakra is right in the center of the sternum, and it's underneath the ribs as well. You can feel and explore that. Simply bring your attention there and awaken vitality there with your intention.

If your mind wanders, as soon as you become aware, bring your attention back. Keep cultivating and building the energy there in the heart. The more you stay with it, the more the energy builds.

Let's stay with the heart a little longer. You might feel warmth. We're just awakening an energetic charge.

Let's expand the heart in front of the body. Give the heart chakra that expansive quality.

If everybody's ready, let's go to the third eye now. If you're doing a 30-minute meditation, that was about 10 minutes. It's a good amount for that duration.

The third eye is just a little above the spot between the eyebrows. It almost feels like you look at it with your eyes, without going cross-eyed. Just bring your attention there. You're looking.

It's good to feel the magnetism. There's almost a magnetic pull or pressure that feels pleasant because it feels vital.

We'll do this chakra for about three or four minutes before we go to the navel, so really give it your all.

Let's do another 30 seconds. It's good to have a gentle intensity. Don't be too forceful.

Let's actually not do the navel center because I feel there's a connection that's happening nicely between this and the crown chakra. Let's focus on the crown.

All right, let's go to the navel. One inch below the belly button is the center. One thing that kind of helps me feel it is putting my hands like this. I feel kind of a connection with it. You don't have to do that, but it can help.

The quality of energy here is quite different. It feels like a power. You literally feel in command of your own field.

The energy of this song that just came on is more like the navel. You can feel that quiet power. The song has other dimensions. The third eye is very prevalent as well, and so is the heart, but there's certainly quite a bit of navel.

All right, let's keep going. Let's bring our attention to the back of the head. This time we'll do something that's not just meditating on a center. We're working with the whole channel.

Push the energy slowly down behind the neck, over the back of the heart, over the middle back where the solar plexus would be, and let it drip down. It almost feels like it drips all the way down to the lower back and the tailbone, into the perineum for the root center.

Let's do that again. Just let it drip down, facilitating that movement gently. Start from the top again. We're creating fluidity in a way that should be healthy, and you can feel that it feels healthy.

Let's bring it down over the back of the head, down the neck, over the upper back, the mid back, and the lower back to the bottom of the channel.

You can do it again if you like, or you could place your attention on the Vishnu granthi, the heart granthi.

All this energy work should have transformed your consciousness. You can take an existential look at the nature of reality and yourself. What is directly perceivable beyond words? Look a little bit more directly and closely.

Now it's a good time to feel centered in the heart center, the heart chakra. Feel love, kindness, gentleness, and peacefulness.

When you're ready, we can come out of the meditation together.

Wow, that spinal channel really made me high, personally. It's nice. I don't usually do that. I'm doing it because I wanted to share it with you, but maybe I should.

Reflections on Meditative Experience

I'd love for you to share, Mom.

Colleen Thank you, Adam. I was really doing many dreams, but I did start off with some colors.

Adam Wes Wonderful.

Colleen Purple, pink, and green, and then a little bit of white, and then lots of REM stuff. I could hear you. I was following, but somehow it was included in my REM state.

Adam Wes Wonderful. It sounds like you were sleeping in the light.

Colleen Very relaxing. Thank you.

Adam Wes Wonderful. What color did you say you saw, green?

Colleen Yes, in the beginning.

Adam Wes Wonderful. Beautiful. Good job. Thank you, Mom.

Colleen Thank you, Adam.

Adam Wes Kira, would you like to share?

We lost Ariella. Who knows what happened?

Kira After spending all that time in the mind's awareness and the quietude, all of a sudden I felt like only communicating without words. I feel like whatever you guided us through, I went to such a subtle place that it just felt normal to have communication almost telepathically.

Adam Wes Nice. You don't have to say anything.

Kira I was like, "Couldn't I just communicate how I like this?"

Adam Wes I know. I feel kind of like that myself right now. It's really quiet.

Kira Yeah, it's like a subtle intelligence. I'm so used to utilizing, like I was saying another time, the sound, the breath, the movement, and the awareness.

This time I just went with it and let go of attachment to a certain methodology or way. I just appreciated the pure awareness, the technique of pure awareness, and definitely felt some major shifts energetically. It feels like there's an energy elevator going up and down my system right now to my crown.

Adam Wes Wonderful.

Kira From just awareness. I'm surprised that it had such an effect.

Adam Wes Well, you were going into light like you usually do.

Kira Yeah.

Adam Wes I saw you go into the light. It's nice. Namaste, Kira. Thank you.

Kira Thank you.

Adam Wes If Marilyn would like to share, you can. You don't have to, Marilyn, if you don't want to.

Oh, Ariella's back. How about you, Shawn?

Shawn E I'm also a little bit high right now. Sorry.

Adam Wes Good, good, good.

Shawn E My body was doing some releasing. I've been doing my meditations, but it hasn't been like this.

Especially when we went to the navel chakra, I had this release. It was a physical fluttering through the lower part of my body. It was really wild and neat.

Then, when we went to the crown chakra, no, when you were guiding the energy down, like a cascade down the back, I had something go down my right arm and out. It was really wonderful.

Adam Wes Clearing and opening. Sometimes it's a lifetime of catching up to do, right?

Shawn E Yes.

Adam Wes A couple of years of that, and then there's a lifetime of taking it further.

Shawn E Yes.

Adam Wes Well, namaste, Shawn. Thank you for being here. I really appreciate your sincerity and being here.

Mathematics and Meditative Perception

I think a lot of the math classes are either in Europe, or they're just like, "I just want to do the math." But that's why I try to explain to people that this awakens your intelligence, and it's a discovery like math. It's an ontological, existential discovery.

Shawn E I feel that. I was going to say necessity, but it's not. It's just integral.

Adam Wes It's integrally integrated.

Shawn E Yeah. What we're doing here, the math, and how you do math.

Adam Wes If you do math from this state, that's actually what I'm trying to share with people. The fact that people didn't show up kind of says that maybe I haven't really conveyed the value of that.

There's a guy named Ramanujan, an Indian mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan. He did math so differently from anybody in history. It's insanely cool.

That's the movie recommendation for this week, by the way. I highly recommend you watch The Man Who Knew Infinity. It's about Srinivasa Ramanujan.

This person would convene with Namagiri, who is a Hindu goddess, and she would tell him mathematical equations that nobody knew, not even the people at Cambridge back in the twenties. He would literally just see the equations from this sort of state.

I know this state. When the mind gets still enough, I don't think you need a goddess there, perhaps, but you can apprehend the gestalt and see things without the linear thought patterns.

God, that guy is amazing, the way he did that as his practice. He died when he was 32 years old, so he did all of that when he was just a young person, a very, very young person.

Kira Would you consider, and maybe you've already done this, offering sessions that were more around the direct perception of math? It's more on the meditative side, but it's not exclusive like these sessions are exclusively meditative.

Adam Wes That's a good idea.

Kira I wonder if your audience would be more inclined if it were like, "It's math," but secretly 10 percent of it is you leading them into a meditative state.

Adam Wes Sometimes I experience more light when I'm doing math than when I'm not doing math.

Kira Interesting.

Adam Wes I do math with my eyes closed. You know those animations, Shawn, that we have? I focus on those, or other things. I come up with them, essentially, and there's light washing through my mind.

Eventually, I'll stop doing math and just go away. Math is happening beyond math at that point.

But yeah, Kira, you're right in a way. Maybe I should just make those classes more meditative. In fact, Shawn, if you noticed, I did talk about energy in the last class because people didn't show up the week before. So I'm just going to start doing that.

Shawn E I think you should. That's what I'm doing. The math, like we talked about, is a core wound for me. I have to go into this place in those classes. When it gets more linear, because it can get linear, it pulls me away, and I have a harder time understanding.

But when it's not, I am feeling the math in those classes, even though I can't say it and I don't understand the terms when everybody is talking. I feel it in a way. I don't know how else to explain it. It's like a baby feeling. I'm like, "Oh, I want that to grow. I want that to grow."

If I can touch that and magnify it, kind of like what we were doing with the chakras, that's the math. I think you do it anyway. I feel like you do it in class. You are that, so it's there for me.

Adam Wes Maybe you and I should stay a little more resonant in the next class and have a co-creation in that direction, using your aspirations. Let's do that.

Shawn E Okay.

Adam Wes If you're up for it. No pressure.

Shawn E No, no.

Adam Wes I think that would be great. You could remind me. Kira, thank you for the suggestion.

Shawn E Thank you.

Adam Wes Namaste. I want to let everybody go. We'll just invite Ariella to share for a moment. I'd love to hear Ariella. I'm not having trouble saying your name today.

Ariella Yes. I had a more powerful experience than I've had before. I could feel some of that energy. Thank you, Adam.

Adam Wes You're welcome.

Ariella I'm sorry, my phone died, and I had to go and get my charger.

Adam Wes That's okay. I've done that many times. It's my computer. Now I plug it in. It is plugged in. It can't turn off in the middle of the end of the session.

All right, everybody. I'm glad you had a good meditation too, Ariella.

Ariella Yes. Thank you.

Adam Wes Namaste, everybody. Thank you. I'll see you next time. Marilyn, thanks for joining.

Colin Namaste, Adam.

Adam Wes Did you want to share anything, or just your usual?

Colin The usual.

Adam Wes The usual. Okay. Namaste.

Colin Namaste.

Adam Wes Okay, bye.

Study Guide

The lesson explored direct energy work through the heart, chakras, granthi, the subtle body, and the planes of light. It emphasized direct perception over belief or terminology, with love, compassion, empathy, peace, and freedom as the indicators of progress.

Theme of the Lesson

Direct energy work can cultivate the heart, purify the subtle body, and open awareness to light, love, beauty, freedom, and the true self.

Key Points
  • Gentleness protects and clears the space by ending reactivity.
  • Direct energy work is practiced for the love it opens us to, not for powers themselves.
  • The four planes described are the physical, astral, causal or planes of light, and eternal or enlightened plane.
  • The light is like a life force. It purifies, renews the mind, and allows things to move into their natural state.
  • The heart center is paramount. The third eye and navel center were also emphasized as useful centers for practice.
  • Chakras have an expansive quality and can serve as doorways into the light.
  • Granthi are more localized centers where energy can become stuck, and energy can be moved gently through them.
  • Belief and terminology are secondary to direct perception.
  • The real indicators of progress are greater freedom, a purified heart, and more love, compassion, and empathy.
Assignment

Spend time bringing attention gently to the heart center, awakening vitality and allowing the heart to expand. Explore the third eye and navel center, and, if it is available, focus into the light. Keep returning to direct experience and notice whether the practice opens greater love, kindness, gentleness, peacefulness, and freedom.

Actionable Focus for the Week
  • Gentleness and nonreactivity around the heart.
  • Five minutes each with the heart, third eye, and navel center during a fifteen minute meditation.
  • A gentle intensity that does not become forceful.
  • The warmth, magnetism, pressure, vitality, or quiet power that may be directly perceivable.
  • The movement of energy from the back of the head down the spine to the lower channel.
  • Contact with the light in the heart, brain, body, and energy body.
  • Love, compassion, empathy, peace, and freedom as the real indicators of progress.
Optional Reflection Prompts
  • What is directly perceivable beyond words?
  • What happens when attention rests gently in the heart?
  • Is the practice opening more love, compassion, empathy, or freedom?
