Foundations of Transformation
The three pillars of transformation come directly from my enlightened teacher, whom I have been working with for almost fifteen years. Part of his enlightenment includes an extraordinarily profound capacity to study every religion in depth. He distilled the religions to discover the most endemic property of all spiritual practices that would produce a transformation to enlightenment.
Christianity leads to enlightenment. Buddhism leads to enlightenment. Zen leads to enlightenment. Yoga leads to enlightenment. Taoism leads to enlightenment. Shamanism of various types leads to enlightenment. Judaism leads to enlightenment. All of these lead to enlightenment if they are done properly. What is the essential teaching intrinsic to each of these, the fundamental potency that produces enlightenment?
You may not want to be the next Buddha, or you might. But enlightenment is highly relevant to every human being because it is about happiness, ultimately. Enlightenment is happiness. The Buddha was very happy. Jesus was very happy.
Progressing along the path to enlightenment is what I usually like to say, because you may want to become fully enlightened or just a little bit more healed, which is a part of enlightenment, or a little bit more brilliant, a little bit more capable of apprehending truth. All of these things are a part of this transformation.
What makes a community is a shared prioritization within lifestyle. What will bring us together and strengthen our connection and the wake of transformation in our community is if each of us participates in these practices. If we want to make a transformation in society, even in our small community, we do so by practicing, by undergoing a transformation ourselves. It is for ourselves, but it also has a greater scope of influence.
Meditation and Mindfulness
The first pillar is meditation, done in a very particular way. In meditation, it is essential that we clear our energy. Whatever challenges or limitations we are facing, when we sit down and meditate, will a transformation of our kundalini structure, and ultimately go into the light, this produces a transformation. This is essential to all religions and spiritual paths in various forms: meditating in such a way that you renew the impressions left on the conscious field.
There is this consciousness field. It is a feeling. When we take an action, we feel the results of that action. It leaves an imprint in the way that our energy flows. Our mind is that energy flow. Our feeling, our biology, is perhaps more fundamentally that energy flow than our muscles, ligaments, and bodily structures.
Going into the energy, activating the chakras, which are doorways that lead to the causal planes of light, and sitting and basking in the light is meditation. The Dantian are the three primary chakras. There is the third eye, the heart center, and the navel center. These three are probably the focus that you want to have in terms of the astral body and the chakra system.
If you are capable of going into light easily, go straight into the light. You can use the light to clear and transform your astral body too. You emanate light, and you emanate it in your chakras, or you permeate your field with light. You can use it to produce a transformation in your chakras, open them, and heal them.
This does not happen immediately. You have to work on it. I spent a good seven years sitting by a tree, to the point where people thought I was homeless, because I was doing this with such fervency. People brought me food. They asked me if I lived at the park. I had an apartment, but I would sit there for four hours at a time.
Willing that transformation is what meditation is about. It is not a flat experience of sitting and trying to still your mind. That is very rudimentary. Meditation, in the mystical form that we are talking about here, is the clearing of the energy and the entrance into the causal planes of light.
If you are in a really rough position, you can simply start and relax. Sometimes that is the first step. Sit down. Do not do anything. Stop escaping into your habitual addictions, whatever various forms may exist. Just stop, be with yourself, and observe yourself.
Ultimately, chakra meditation or Dantian meditation is a powerful place to start. You can simply feel your third eye for half an hour. Make it powerful, to the point where you feel a little superhuman all of a sudden, which you will if you persevere and persist.
The second pillar is mindfulness. We are not encouraged by the current state of society, and perhaps the state of society as it has always been, to be mindful. Mindfulness means giving your full attention to what you are doing. It is the strengthening of your attention field, your capacity to direct attention. This is enormously important if you like mathematics, or if you like just about anything done at a high quality.
If you want to love somebody profoundly, if you really love people, your capacity for attention is your capacity to love. You can listen to people’s feelings, to what is happening inside them. That is mindfulness. We have to strengthen this as a muscle.
It is also your capacity for beauty. Can I experience what the ocean really feels like in its full glory and beauty? That requires that I am not completely tied up in my own inner workings of uncontrolled thoughts, and that I can listen and direct my attention.
I would sit and eat for about thirty minutes to finish one small meal because I was mindful about every single bite and gave it my full attention. How does it taste? How does it feel when I eat it? When making food, I would cut it very carefully. I am going to cut the food, and I am going to give it my full attention. I am not thinking about other things. I am not doing two things at once. I am doing it with intentionality.
On a mindfulness walk, you walk and feel outward. You feel the space around you. Feel what it is like to move through three-dimensional space, trees passing you. You feel what it is like to have your feet touch the ground, giving your full attention to that.
It may seem boring, but it is not boring. It is invigorating. A person who finds it boring is stuck in escapism in the mind. It is invigorating to feel alive, to feel present with something as simple as a walk.
Are you in command of your own mind? Can you think the thoughts you want to think, or not think any thoughts at all? Think about how profoundly important this is. Check in with yourself: am I in command of my own mind?
What could be more important than being in command of your own mind? Did you choose the choice you made, or were you conditioned? Did you just think and think in a long stream of thoughts, like a giant river pounding your focus? Or are you able to be directed and think the thoughts you want to think, or no thoughts at all, and take the actions you want to take, like Bruce Lee in martial arts?
Mindfulness is actively cultivated.
Contemplation and Lucidity
The third pillar is contemplation. In all religions, there is a degree of mindfulness, meditative focus, and contemplation.
Contemplation produces lucidity. This means that you understand things. You understand life. You understand yourself. You can see the movements of your own humanity. You can see the movements in the humanity of others. You can see all of this very quickly in somebody if you can see it in yourself.
You can understand freedom, truth, enlightenment, simplicity, and all kinds of things. Contemplation leads to lucidity and a subjective understanding of these things, not just parroting words from an enlightened being, from me, or from anybody, but having a personal, direct apprehension of truth.
This is the way it works. Nobody can tell me otherwise. It is unassailable truth. It is immutable. It is what is. That sort of personal authority around understanding and comprehension is included in contemplation.
Contemplation is not just about the topics we contemplate, but also about the well-structured mind that we develop as a result. Your mind has to be in order. It has to be a powerful mind to unlock the equation of enlightenment, to unlock the equation of self and life.
When we are young, we understand innocence and purity. That is one of the things we have and lose, but we also gain. We want to get back to that innocence, which meditation, contemplation, and mindfulness help us with. But we also want to have the wisdom of life.
You can contemplate topics like truth, kindness, gratitude, and all the many topics that are fundamental to the human condition. Or you can contemplate the fundamental concepts of mathematics.
You could contemplate a sphere. How well do you know what a sphere is? Spheres are one of the most ubiquitous shapes in the entire universe. Stars are spherical. Moons are spherical, most of them. Planets are spherical. Bubbles are spherical. Spheres are a profoundly important thing.
Is it deeply self-evident to you that x squared plus y squared plus z squared equals r squared? When I say x, y, and z, I am talking about left, right, forward, backward, up, and down, and those are lengths. Squared means the multiple of that length by itself. R is the distance of the sphere from the center.
You can also contemplate a sphere by becoming aware of the nature of spherical curvature. Sit down, get high on math, and feel the beautiful quality of curvature intrinsic to a sphere. Feel, almost with your fingers or your mind, this shape and the surface of it. Get in contact with the sphere. This is contemplation. Develop lucidity and awareness of the structure of a sphere. It has this uniform curvature throughout. It does not change.
My teacher says, “Go back to the fundamentals.” If you can hold a sphere in your mind, that is level one. We also need to do a cube, a pyramid, all the Platonic solids, and things that are nongeometric as well, like the square root of negative one. What does it mean to square a number? Each of these can be a point of contemplation.
What is the square root of negative one? It is a very strange question. I have spent months contemplating that single question. You can learn that it equals i, but what is i? Being told what it equals does not mean you know what it is.
When we take contemplation to the next level, we may be able to contemplate an ellipsoid or a hyperbolic sheet. Then we contemplate a tesseract, which is a four-dimensional cube, or a Klein bottle, or real projective space, which is embedded not in the fourth dimension but the fifth dimension, despite being a two-dimensional manifold.
Mathematics is one form of contemplation, and so are enlightened topics like forgiveness. I recommend both.
Daily Practice and Community
When a spiritual teacher gives you an assignment, it is something to be taken seriously. It is an opportunity, and it is one that may not come again. This is the moment to listen. You do not need to wait twenty years, or even a week, to do it. Now is the time.
The assignment is fifteen minutes a day of meditation, clearing your energy and going into light. You can do Dantian meditation or gazing meditation. Gazing meditation is the key to going into the light. You sit in front of a mirror and look at yourself. Look broadly, and all kinds of interesting things will happen. You use that to enter the causal planes of light.
The light will wash over you and purify your spirit. It is basically the best thing any human being can do for themselves. You can do many other things, but if that is the one thing you are doing every day, it can change your life profoundly and the lives of the people around you profoundly.
Fifteen minutes a day of meditation is not a big ask. It is common to every human being. It is like showering. If, three hundred years ago, I had told people that every day they had to shower for fifteen minutes, they might have been very annoyed because people bathed once a week, and that was considered luxurious. Now everybody showers for five, ten, or fifteen minutes a day. Gazing meditation, or simply Dantian meditation, is very powerful. Clear your energy.
The next practice is contemplation. Spend ten minutes a day. You can contemplate the topic of the week. There are three pillars that produce a transformation. What are they? Contemplate that. You can sit down and write about it. You could close your eyes, go into silence, and gently contemplate the topic.
The third practice is not more time. It is a reinterpretation or revisiting of an activity. Make breakfast every day with mindfulness. Make breakfast, eat breakfast, or make it and eat it. If it cannot be breakfast, it can be any meal.
This is a powerful thing to do, and it is wonderful. You can be romantic about it. If you are going to make dinner, make it beautifully. Put on some flamenco music. Light some candles. Do it with mindfulness. Give your full attention to what you are doing.
The other option is a mindfulness walk. Walking is a very powerful thing. It is important to walk. If you walk with mindfulness, get off your phone and listen to the birds. Notice the squirrels. Notice your body. Breathe the air. Put away your phone. Do it mindfully, and learn to become a master of your own attention field.
For meditation, fifteen minutes is a minimum. You do not get enough momentum when you do ten minutes. The first five minutes, you are clearing your day. The second five minutes, you are starting to stabilize. I do not like to meditate for less than an hour at a time because the last five minutes are the best.
Sangha is a shared field of transformation. When we do this together, it strengthens our connection with each other, and it strengthens the gravity of our practice. One of the reasons we like to go to an advanced school is that everybody there is serious about the work. The same is true of spiritual practice.
What could be more important than clearing your energy and renewing your spirit so that you are like a newborn child of purity? What could be more important than strengthening your attention field so that you are in command of your own thoughts and not pulled around by somebody else while thinking you are in command?
What could be more important than awakening the capacity to understand truth, so that you live in understanding and comprehension about the fundamental things in life, and about anything that you see?
Think about how much you can love another, which is profoundly important, if you are these things, or how much you can heal. Think of all the ways that we spend money and try to heal with psychologists, or escape from our lack of healing through drink, drugs, or whatever else. This is the core.
Guided Dantian Meditation
Regarding meditation, always center on the heart. If you are doing Dantian meditation, feel your heart. If you are doing light, feel your heart. The heart is always the center. It always has to be there.
Bring your attention to the heart center. It is always a good place to start. In the first moments of meditation, we are simply becoming aware of the activity within ourselves. We have not cleared it yet. We are noticing it.
Begin to soften your hold, your resistance. Become absorbed by first letting go. Feel the heart. If you are capable, you can go right into light from the beginning of the meditation. You may notice that the light was already there.
Bring your attention to the third eye. You must clear and activate your third eye. You start from where you are. It becomes a resource for the rest of your life.
If you do not feel anything, simply feel the spot in the most crude way. You can always do that until it truly awakens within you. The third eye is in the middle of the forehead, just a little above the eyebrows. It steadies the mind when you feel it, and it helps you see the light.
Fashion yourself as a little bit of a sorcerer, a little bit of a metaphysical being. You are getting in touch with what many people would consider magic, just by feeling that spot. Get your power up. Clear the space.
If your mind wanders, practice mindfulness while meditating. Bring your attention back to the spot. Keep bringing your attention back. Figure out, through personal mastery, how to increase the magnitude of the charge in the third eye. Make it stronger. Explore the intricacies of its function and nature.
When the third eye gets stronger, it is easy to become absorbed, and there is no one to feel the third eye anymore. It is only Nirvana at that point. For now, the third eye brings a quality of poise to the mind.
Now bring your attention to the navel center. This is power, willpower. It connects with the other chakras, and we use it to activate and direct them. The navel center is one inch below the belly button, or perhaps half an inch. It puts you in command of yourself, and there is a lovely feeling when it is activated.
Feel the lower abdominal area, particularly this spot. It is a vortex in our biological system. You will notice that your third eye and heart are continuing because you have built momentum in them. Now focus on the navel center. Generate a charge there. Accumulate a charge there.
This trifecta of energetic faculty, this tripod, produces holistic stability within the mental field, the attention field. They all work together. Realize your sentient potential. Awaken greater consciousness. Continue to cultivate the navel center. You are producing a transformation in the subtle faculties of the biology that brings cognition.
You are now heart, mind, willpower, a complete system.
The next step is to feel all three at the same time: the centeredness and goodness of the heart, the vitality of the navel, and the poise of the third eye. Check in, one after another. Feel the navel. Feel the heart. Feel the third eye. Then feel all three. Feel the potency of them in concert.
Invoke the light. Open the dimensions of the causal planes of light, the essence of spirit, the visual experience of love, the fabric of the soul seen directly, mystically.
Bring attention to the heart.
We do not need to settle for the twenty-first-century human being. We can be of the next millennium. We can be more than the status quo of a human being right now.
A lot of times, when we have challenges in this world, it means there is something in us that is a little older, a more evolved spirit that does not like the download of the human condition right now. We do not like to live that way. Our soul is rejecting it to some degree.
If you face challenges, you have to upgrade your system. The hardware of your computer needs a better operating system. Otherwise, it overheats.
This is what we are doing: the three pillars of transformation.

Foundations of Transformation
Adam Wes Hi, everybody. Namaste, welcome. We're missing a few people. Namaste. Welcome, everybody. Hi, Praveen. Hi, Dori, nice glasses. Hi, Ariella. Hi, Mom.
All right, we've got a few people missing. This is a very important session. I'd like to share a screen. Today we're talking about the three pillars of transformation.
This is a very powerful teaching, actually, and it comes directly from my enlightened teacher, who I've been working with for almost 15 years now. He's a little bit of a genius, perhaps a lot of a genius, so part of his enlightenment includes this extraordinarily profound capacity to study every single religion in depth.
He did that and distilled the religions to figure out what was the most endemic property of all spiritual practices that would produce a transformation to enlightenment. Christianity leads to enlightenment. Buddhism leads to enlightenment. Zen leads to enlightenment. Yoga leads to enlightenment. Taoism leads to enlightenment. Shamanism of various types leads to enlightenment. Judaism leads to enlightenment. All of these lead to enlightenment if they're done properly.
What is the essential teaching intrinsic to each of these that is the fundamental potency that produces enlightenment?
Now, you may not want to be the next Buddha, or you might. But enlightenment is highly relevant to every human being because it's about happiness, ultimately.
So what are the three pillars that my teacher discovered are endemic to all religions? That's what I'm going to share with you today.
But a little bit more. What makes a community is a shared prioritization within lifestyle. What will really bring us together and strengthen our connection and the wake of transformation in our community is if each of us, should you be interested, really participates in what I'm about to share with you.
Today, I'm actually giving you an assignment. An actual assignment. Everybody gets an assignment today. The assignment is designed such that it will strengthen our community, because there are not enough people here. There should be many more people here, and it would be very powerful for all of us if there were more people here. But what draws people here is the practice.
If somebody shows up and there's a strong field here, they will stay and contribute the energy. So if we want to make a transformation in society of some kind, even in our small community, we do so by practicing, by undergoing a transformation ourselves, which is for ourselves, but it also has a greater scope of influence, right?
I'll share my screen. In fact, I've already shared a PDF in the chat, so if you can, go ahead and download that PDF. Has anybody seen it yet?
Okay, if you click on the chat, that little chat box, there's a little thing called "The Three Pillars." You can click the little arrow that points down, and that will download it to your computer. You can just click Save, and it'll save on your computer somewhere. Then you can go and open it.
Mr J Adam, I don't see it. Where? I don't think it's in the chat.
Andrea P No, it's not.
Adam Wes Oh, do I have to resend it? I guess I sent it before everybody logged on. Give me a second.
There it is, and here's a follow-up message. Go ahead and download that PDF. You can open it later if you want, but just make sure you have it on your computer. I'm going to share the screen right now anyway.
Meditation and Mindfulness
Okay, the three pillars of transformation. Let's start with the first pillar. Of course, it's meditation, done in a very particular way.
In meditation, it's essential that we clear our energy. Whatever challenges or limitations we're facing, when we clear the energy, when we sit down and meditate and will a transformation of our kundalini structure, and ultimately go into the light, this produces a transformation. This is essential to all of the religions and all of the spiritual paths, in various forms, but meditating in such a way that you renew the impressions left on the conscious field.
There's this consciousness field. It's a feeling. When we take an action, we feel the results of that action. It leaves an imprint in the way that our energy flows. Our mind is that energy flow. Our feeling, our biology, is perhaps more fundamentally that energy flow than our muscles, ligaments, and bodily structures.
Going into the energy, activating the chakras, which are doorways that will lead to the causal planes of light, and sitting and basking in the light is meditation.
The Dantian are the three primary chakras. That's a Chinese word. There's the third eye, the heart center, and the navel center. These three are probably the focus that you want to have in terms of the astral body and the chakra system. You can meditate on the Dantian.
If you're capable of going into light very easily, like you are, Mom, I would recommend just going straight into the light. You can use the light to clear and transform your astral body too. You emanate light, and you emanate it in your chakras, or you permeate your field with light. You can actually use it to produce a transformation in your chakras, open them, and heal them.
Now, this doesn't just happen immediately. You have to work on this. I spent a good seven years sitting by a tree, to the point where people thought I was homeless, because I was doing this with such fervency for many years. People brought me food. They asked me if I lived at the park. All kinds of things.
I had an apartment, but I would sit there for four hours at a time sometimes. People wanted to take videos of me for their movies and stuff because I sat there, and I had to have this change. Really, I would love more time to do that as much as I used to. I still do it two hours a day, generally, but that used to be more.
Willing that transformation is what meditation is about. It's not a flat experience of sitting, trying to still your mind. That's very rudimentary. Meditation, in the mystical form that we're talking about here, is the clearing of the energy and the entrance into the causal planes of light.
Now, if you're in a really rough position, you can simply start and relax. Sometimes that's the first step. Sit down. Don't do anything. Stop escaping into your habitual addictions of whatever various forms may exist, right? Just stop, be with yourself, and observe yourself.
But ultimately, chakra meditation or Dantian meditation is a powerful place to start. You can simply feel your third eye. Feel your third eye for half an hour. Make it powerful, to the point where you're like, "Whoa, I feel a little superhuman here all of a sudden," which you will if you persevere and persist.
Okay, meditation.
Next is mindfulness. We are very much not encouraged by the current state of society, and perhaps the state of society as it's always been, to be mindful.
Mindfulness means giving your full attention to what you're doing. It's the strengthening of your attention field, your capacity to direct attention. This is enormously important if you like mathematics, or if you like just about anything done at a high quality, right?
Jacob, if you're going to get a PhD in physics, you need to direct your attention pretty profoundly, right? You can't be a couch potato who drinks beer all day. That's not going to produce the kind of mind capable of getting a PhD in physics, right?
This applies to all walks of life. If you want to love somebody profoundly, if you care about people, like Ariella and Mom, if you really love people, your capacity for attention is your capacity to love. You can listen to people's feelings, what's happening inside of people. That's mindfulness. We have to strengthen this as a muscle.
Also, your capacity for beauty. Can I experience what the ocean really feels like in its full glory and beauty? Well, that requires that I'm not completely tied up in my own inner workings of uncontrolled thoughts, and that I can listen and direct my attention.
Mindfulness is the other pillar. I love mindfulness. I do it to such a degree that I had an experience similar to sitting by the tree at the park and meditating. I'm just giving you examples so you can see how far you can take it.
I would sit and eat for about 30 minutes to eat one little small meal because I was so mindful about every single bite and giving my full attention. How does it taste? How does it feel when I eat it?
Making food, cutting it very carefully. I'm going to cut the food. Okay, well, I'm going to give my full attention. I'm not thinking about other things. I'm not doing two things at once. I'm doing it with intentionality.
A mindfulness walk. You walk and you feel out. You feel the space around you. Feel what it's like to move through three-dimensional space, trees passing you. You feel what it's like to have your feet touch the ground, giving your full attention to that.
It may seem boring, but it's not boring. It's invigorating. People find it boring sometimes, but a person who finds it boring is stuck in escapism in their mind. It's invigorating to feel alive, to feel present with a walk, something that simple.
So, steadiness. Are you in command of your own mind? Can you think the thoughts you want to think, or not think any thoughts at all? Think about how profoundly important this is. Check in with yourself. Am I in command of my own mind?
What could be more important than being in command of your own mind? That's why I can't believe there aren't 100 people here doing this, but the signal of this hasn't been strong enough, right?
One hundred people sitting with powerful minds, capable and in command of their own minds, which very few people are. They think they are, but did you choose the choice you made, or were you conditioned? Did you just think and think and think in a long stream of thoughts that were like a giant river pounding your focus? Or are you able to be directed and think the thoughts you want to think, or no thoughts at all, and take the actions you want to take, like Bruce Lee in martial arts?
Okay, mindfulness is actively cultivated.
Contemplation and Lucidity
Next is contemplation. These are the things that are a part of all religions. If you look at them, there's a degree of mindfulness focus, meditative focus, and contemplation is the third one.
Contemplation produces lucidity. This means that you understand things. You understand life. You understand yourself. You can see the movements of your own humanity. You can see the movements in the humanity of others.
"Oh, that person is not making decisions. They think this. They're doing that. What drives them is this." You can see all of this very quickly in somebody if you can see it in yourself.
You can understand various things, all kinds of things: freedom, truth, enlightenment, simplicity. All the things that we discuss are a part of my practice in developing lucidity around fundamental topics in life pertinent to enlightenment, and sharing them with you, which is one of the reasons why I love doing this.
It's my job to sit and contemplate this, get clear on it as much as I can, again, because I've contemplated most of these things for many years, and then share it with you as potently as possible so that it makes a difference for you. I try to simplify it so that you can have a degree of lucidity around each of these topics. That's what we're doing here.
Contemplation leads to lucidity and a subjective understanding of these things, not just parroting some words from an enlightened being, from me, or from anybody, but having a personal, direct apprehension of truth.
"This is the way it works. Nobody can tell me otherwise. It's unassailable truth. It's immutable. It's what is. Nobody can tell me otherwise." That sort of personal authority around understanding and comprehension is included in contemplation.
So we sit and contemplate. Now, contemplation is not just about the topics we contemplate, but also about the well-structured mind that we develop as a result. Your mind has to be in order. It has to be a powerful mind to unlock the equation of enlightenment, to unlock the equation of self and life.
What's the difference between a nine-year-old who doesn't understand life yet? They understand innocence and purity, of course. That's one of the things we have when we're young and lose, but we also gain. We want to get back to that, of course, which meditation helps us with, and contemplation, and mindfulness. But we want to have that wisdom of life.
You can contemplate topics like truth, kindness, gratitude, and all the many various topics that are fundamental to the human condition. Or you can contemplate the fundamental concepts of mathematics.
You could contemplate a sphere. How well do each of you know what a sphere is? Spheres are one of the most ubiquitous shapes in the entire universe. Stars are spherical. Moons are spherical, most of them. Planets are spherical. Bubbles are spherical, right? Spheres are a profoundly important thing.
Well, is it deeply self-evident to you that x squared plus y squared plus z squared equals r squared? Jacob, if you know that equation, do you know exactly why it's true?
When I say x, y, and z, I'm talking about left, right, forward, backward, up, and down, and those are lengths. Squared means the multiple of that length by itself. R is the distance of the sphere from the center.
But you can also contemplate a sphere by becoming aware of the nature of spherical curvature. How much do you feel that? They won't teach you that in grad school, Jacob. Sit down, get high on math, and feel the beautiful quality of curvature intrinsic to a sphere.
Maybe just take a moment, everybody. Feel, okay, what is this sphere? Feel, almost with your fingers or your mind, this shape, the surface of it.
Ariella, I know you haven't done math probably for most of your life, but you can do this. Feel the sphere. Get in contact with the sphere. This is contemplation. Develop lucidity and awareness of the structure of a sphere.
It has this uniform curvature throughout. Think about that. It's a uniform curvature. It doesn't change.
I love where Dori's at right now. Dori's just like, "Yeah!" Dori, this is so good for you. I'd love to hear what Dori has to say. Are you going to share something?
Dori What's interesting is that I've actually done this before with a Klein bottle, and I've never thought to start simply with a sphere. The Klein bottle is very difficult because it has a part that's embedded in four-dimensional space. When we view it in 3D, it looks like it's intersecting itself, but it's not really. It's just in a higher dimension that we can't perceive. That's so difficult, and it's like, why didn't I start with a sphere?
Adam Wes Yes, yes. Beautiful. Dori, I'm just so grateful when you come here. It's so lovely to have you here. Yay, we found Dori! Wait, Finding Nemo. Nemo had Dori. It's like we found Dori now! That's funny.
This is actually a really profound thing that I also learned from my teacher. He says, "Go back to the fundamentals." If you can hold a sphere in your mind, that's just level one. We also need to do a cube, a pyramid, all the Platonic solids, and things that are nongeometric as well, like the square root of negative one. Or what does it mean to square a number? Each of these can be a point of contemplation.
I've contemplated these things in great detail. What is the square root of negative one? A very strange question. I've spent months contemplating that single question, right? You can learn it in seventh grade, and they say, "Well, it equals i." Well, what is i? It doesn't mean you know what it is, right?
What's interesting about what Dori just shared is that we contemplate the sphere, and when we take it to the next level, we may be able to contemplate an ellipsoid or a hyperbolic sheet. Then we take it to the next level and contemplate a tesseract, which is a four-dimensional cube, or a Klein bottle, or real projective space, which is also very interesting, embedded not in the fourth dimension but the fifth dimension, despite it being a two-dimensional manifold. I contemplated that for a whole week this last month. That's a tough one to contemplate.
Mathematics is one form of contemplation, and so are enlightened topics like forgiveness. I recommend both, actually.
Daily Practice and Community
Okay, we have to hurry. Assignment.
First of all, I wrote this here in specific words because I need to say it. When a spiritual teacher gives you an assignment, it's something to be taken seriously. It's an opportunity. It's one that may not come again. This is the moment to listen.
I'm not going to give you an assignment unless I really, really feel it's relevant and valuable for you. It may not come knocking on your door, and you don't need to wait 20 years or a week to do it. Now is the time.
The assignment is 15 minutes a day of meditation, clearing your energy, going into light. You can do Dantian, or gazing with light.
Gazing meditation is the key to going into the light. My mom does a very good job of doing it without gazing, which is actually kind of a special skill set. Usually, gazing is how we get in. Then, if you get really advanced, you can do it with your eyes closed. You can do it with your eyes closed, but it's just a little harder to get it going.
What we do is sit in front of the mirror and look at ourselves. It's good if you have a big enough mirror that you can sit on the floor and look in the mirror. You look broadly, and all kinds of interesting stuff is going to happen. You use that to enter into the causal planes of light.
The light will wash over you and purify your spirit. It's basically the best thing any human being can do for themselves. You can do a lot of other things, but if that's the one thing you're doing every day, it can change your life profoundly and the lives of the people around you profoundly.
Okay, 15 minutes a day of meditation. This is not a big ask. This is common to every human being. It's kind of like showering.
If, 300 years ago, I went and told people, "Every day you're going to have to shower for 15 minutes," they might be very annoyed because people bathed once a week, and that was considered luxurious, right? Now everybody showers basically 15 minutes a day, or maybe five or 10 minutes.
Gazing meditation, or just Dantian meditation, is very powerful. Clear your energy.
The next one is contemplation. Spend 10 minutes a day. You can contemplate the sermon topic of the week, so you can actually contemplate what we talked about here today. That's what I recommend for the next week.
Take a week and contemplate. There are three pillars that produce a transformation. What are they? Okay, that's interesting. Contemplate that. You can sit down and write about it. You can dictate it to your phone if you're good at articulating it extemporaneously like that. You could just close your eyes, go into silence, and gently contemplate the topic. Ten minutes a day. That's just 25 minutes.
The third one isn't more time. It's a reinterpretation or revisiting of an activity. Make breakfast every day with mindfulness. Make breakfast, eat breakfast, or make it and eat it. If it can't be breakfast for whatever reason, you could do any meal.
This is a very powerful thing to do, and it's wonderful. You can be romantic about it. Are you going to make dinner? Make it beautifully. Put on some flamenco music. Light some candles. Do it with mindfulness. Tell everybody to be quiet because you're giving your full attention to what you're doing.
The other option is a mindfulness walk, which hopefully many of you do. I know some of you do it. Walking is a very powerful thing. It's important to walk. If you walk with mindfulness, that means get off your phone and listen to the birds. Notice the squirrels. Notice your body. Breathe the air. Put away your phone.
Do it mindfully, and learn to become a master of your own attention field.
Okay, that's it. It's 25 minutes a day. Is that asking too much? Is it too much? If you want to do contemplation for five minutes, I think that would be fine too. I recommend 10, but five would be enough.
For meditation, I think 15 minutes is a minimum, actually. I tend to say, "Go ahead and do 10," but you don't get enough momentum when you do 10 minutes of meditation. The first five minutes, you're just dealing with clearing your day. The second five minutes, you're starting to stabilize. I don't like to meditate for less than an hour at a time because that last five minutes is the best.
Okay, that's the assignment.
Sangha is a shared field of transformation. When we do this together, it strengthens our connection with each other, and it strengthens the gravity of our practice.
Imagine Jacob was in grad school and nobody did the homework. It wouldn't be a very interesting class. But when you go to MIT and everybody does the homework and takes it seriously, it has a more profound effect and transformation, right?
One of the reasons we like to go to an advanced school is that everybody there is serious about the work. I'd like this to be more serious. That's why I actually made a PDF today of the assignment. Since it's been four years that I've been asking everybody to meditate, it's time.
Just in closing, what could be more important than clearing your energy and renewing your spirit so that you're like a newborn child of purity? What could be more important than strengthening your attention field so that you're in command of your own thoughts and not pulled around by somebody else while thinking you're in command?
What could be more important than awakening the capacity to understand truth, so that you live in understanding and comprehension about the fundamental things in life, and about anything that you see?
Think about how much you can love another, which is profoundly important, if you are these things, or how much you can heal. Think of all the ways that we spend money and try to heal with psychologists, or escape from our lack of healing through whatever drink, drug, or whatever. This is the core.
Now, I would like to get Circle going. Everybody, please get onto Circle. Here's the Sangha Practice Hall, sfi.school/practice. If you scroll down, I should probably put this in a more prominent location, but "Private Online Community" is right here.
If you click this, you can enter the Circle app. I'm going to keep in touch with all of you throughout the week so you can ask questions about this. You can say, "Adam, I was doing the gazing, and this weird thing happened, and it scared me." I'll be like, "Okay, well, let's talk about that."
You can ask questions. I'll check in with everybody. Let's congregate online and check in a couple of times throughout the week using Circle.
Perfect. All right, let's meditate.
Thank you for listening and letting me be a little intense today. Ariella, are you okay? Ariella, when will you enter the nunnery? This is your monastery of nuns. You know there's a deep past-life predilection for that. This is your chance to practice.
You tell your husband, "I'm taking 15 minutes to do this. It's important. I've wanted this my whole life." You can formally practice your magic, right? It's time to do it.
Hopefully everybody's watching the recording.
Praveen, what do you think? Are you inspired? Yeah? Okay, good.
Dori, what do you think?
Dori I'm excited to go meditate on a sphere for an hour after this.
Adam Wes Nice. Once you do that, your mind will take the form of a sphere. The sphere is very yin. If you focus on a cube for an hour, you're going to be a different person than if you focus on a sphere for an hour. Cube people are very different. Much more earth energy. A sphere is much more water energy. You feel the difference.
Okay, we're going to do a micro-share today. Let's get 22 minutes of meditation in.
Guided Dantian Meditation
Regarding meditation, always, always center on the heart. If you're doing Dantian, feel your heart. If you're doing light, feel your heart. The heart is always the center. It always has to be there.
All right. Sorry if that went too long for everybody.
Let's bring your attention to the heart center. It's always a good place to start.
In the first moments of meditation, we're just becoming aware of the activity within ourselves. We haven't cleared it yet. We're just noticing it.
Beginning to soften our hold, our resistance. Become absorbed by first letting go. Feeling the heart.
If you're capable, you can go right into light from the very beginning of the meditation. You may notice that the light was already there.
Bring your attention to the third eye now. You must clear and activate your third eye. You start from where you are. It becomes a resource for the rest of your life.
If you don't feel anything, then simply, in the most crude way, just feel the spot. You can always do that until it truly awakens within you.
The third eye is in the middle of the forehead, just a little bit above the eyebrows. It really steadies the mind when you feel it, and it helps you see the light.
In your Dantian meditation, you can do five minutes on each of the three Dantian. We'll do about five minutes on the third eye right now. We already did about five minutes on the heart.
Fashion yourself as a little bit of a sorcerer, a little bit of a metaphysical being. You're getting in touch with what many people would consider magic, just by feeling that spot.
Get your power up. Clear the space.
If your mind wanders, practice mindfulness while we're meditating. Bring your attention back to the spot. Just keep bringing your attention back to the spot.
Figure out, through personal mastery, how to increase the magnitude of the charge in the third eye. Make it stronger. Explore the intricacies of its function and nature.
Ariella, this is not an oblivion meditation. You're feeling the third eye. You'll do both. When the third eye gets stronger, it's easy to become absorbed, and there's no one to feel the third eye anymore. It's only Nirvana at that point.
For now, the third eye brings a quality of poise to the mind.
That's about five minutes.
Now, the navel center. This is power, willpower. In fact, it connects with the other chakras, and we use it to activate and direct the other chakras.
The navel center is one inch below the belly button, or perhaps a half inch. It puts you in command of yourself, and there's a lovely feeling when you're activated.
We're feeling the lower abdominal area, but particularly this spot. It's a vortex in our biological system.
You'll notice your third eye is continuing and your heart is continuing because you've built momentum in them. Now we focus on the navel center. You generate a charge there. Accumulate a charge there.
This trifecta of energetic faculty, this tripod, produces holistic stability within the mental field, the attention field. They all work together.
Realize your sentient potential. Awaken greater consciousness.
Continue to cultivate the navel center. You're producing a transformation in the subtle faculties of the biology that brings cognition.
You are now heart, mind, willpower, a complete system.
The next step is to feel all three at the same time: centeredness and the goodness of the heart, the vitality of the navel, and the poise of the third eye.
Then you invoke the light.
Just check in, one after another.
Navel. Okay, I feel that.
Heart. I feel it.
Third eye. I feel it.
Okay, I feel all three. Feel the potency of them in concert. Open the dimensions of the causal planes of light, the essence of spirit, the visual experience of love, the fabric of the soul seen directly, mystically.
Namaste.
Bring attention to the heart.
We don't need to settle for the 21st-century human being. We can be of the next millennium. We can be more than the status quo of a human being right now.
A lot of times, when we have challenges in this world, it means there's something in us that's a little more old, a more evolved spirit that doesn't like the download of the human condition right now. We don't like to live that way. Our soul is rejecting it to some degree.
If you ever face challenges, you have to upgrade your system. The hardware of your computer needs a better operating system. Otherwise, it overheats. It's that sort of thing.
It's just more fun if you find it. You can probably even hear that the way I'm speaking is a little bit more inspired because I'm enjoying what we're doing here, and I'm feeling the energy.
This is really what we're doing: the three pillars of transformation.
Reflections and Closing Discussion
Mom, would you like to share for a moment?
Colleen Sure. I really don't know what you do to me. I'm very interested in the sermon, but a few minutes into it, I start getting into this extremely relaxed state. Today, I really struggled to keep my eyes open.
The minute you say we can meditate, it's such a relief, and the bright red starts. It's beautiful. We go into this peaceful state.
I will make an effort to do the 15 minutes a day. I'll start with that one. It does feel very good. Thank you.
Adam Wes Wonderful. This is about your health. You take care of your health, and it's about your potential too.
One minute of light is priceless to a human being. It's a priceless thing to access light for one minute. You can sit, and you just have this gift. It's a gift that you can sit in the red light for 15 minutes a day.
That's like having somebody standing outside your house giving away free $100 bills, and you just keep driving by without collecting the free $100 bills. That's what it's like not to meditate when you're capable of going into light that consistently. These are $100 bills of the inner planes, the inner dimensions.
Colleen Thank you, Adam.
Adam Wes You're welcome, Mom. Good job. Wonderful.
Hi, Daniel! You're an hour late. Do you know that? Turn your mic on. We can't hear you.
Daniel V I think I got stuck with the idea from the previous schedule when I last joined.
Adam Wes I'll send you everything. Check the chat right now for the PDF. Everybody else, could you please check the chat for the PDF and make sure to download it? Review the PDF. I made that for you guys.
Daniel, the recording will be up. It's a very important one we did today. I think this is one of the most pivotal sessions we've had.
I would like to let everybody know that I'm having a little bit of a financial struggle at the moment. I need to come up with $150 between now and the end of the hour. If anybody can donate anything, that would be really helpful.
I'm doing my best to provide value. Maybe the world's not ready for doing math with sincerity and living for love and enlightenment, but if you can't give anything, that's fine. I just don't know who else to ask, so I'm telling you all. Anything helps, even a little bit, as I make my way up to the $150 that I'm short right now.
Thank you, everybody, for being here, and good job today.
Praveen, would you like to share your experience quickly? I want to make sure at least two people share.
Praveen S I think the segment today about the three pillars was great, Adam. What I liked was the mindfulness aspect that you were talking about, how it clears our energy, and we can feel that we are the astral body.
That was really amazing. It's a new perspective to see how I am built. I'm not the body, but I am the absolute Brahman.
Adam Wes Well, you are all the layers. We are Brahman. We are Atman. We are Manatmen. We are the Supersoul. We are the essence as the soul. We are the astral body as the subtle physical aspect of our biological system. We are the physical body as our electrical and chemical system.
We are also the greater body beyond our individuality. We are the solar system. We're everything. That's all our body.
But certainly, the astral body is the more subtle and largely unacknowledged aspect of our biology that can be directed. If you heal your astral body, you can heal your physical body and your mind. It's very important to have a strong astral body and maintain that.
The physical results from the energetic. Understand?
There have actually been studies where they cut something off an animal, which is not very nice, and then they would electrically stimulate it, and it would grow back.
This is very much what we're doing here. We're using intentionality to build our bodies, our cells, our DNA, our whatever it is. You don't have to understand all that. It's better, right?
That's why it's very important that you meditate on the Dantian. If you take medications or have bad habits involving alcohol, drinking, smoking, or whatever bad habits, these things can produce the right transformation. You can segue slowly to the point where you have that independence and the strength of your own astral field and astral energy channeling.
Thank you, Praveen. Good job. Namaste.
All right, everybody, I'll see you next week. One hour earlier, Daniel.
It's so good to see you, Daniel. For everybody who doesn't know, Daniel has been meditating with us for years now. He's just been on a hiatus of some kind, but it's really nice to see you.
Daniel's in Mexico, just like David and Andrea, and he's a math teacher.
Daniel V It's nice to see you all, and to meet the ones that I haven't met before.
Adam Wes Yeah. Daniel, this is Dori. She's in Florida. I'm not sure if you've met Praveen. He's in India.
Namaste, everybody. Thank you. And, of course, Ariella and Colleen, my mom.
All right, bye, everybody. Good job!
